Picacho Peak Prickly Pear Cactus Original Pastel Painting

US$125.00

Picacho Peak State Park near Tucson, Arizona, is one of my favorite state parks for camping.

It sits in the Sonoran Desert of south-central Arizona and is defined by the dramatic presence of Picacho Peak, a steep, volcanic mountain that rises abruptly from the surrounding plain.

Vegetation is sparse but characteristic of the Sonoran Desert. Saguaro cacti, prickly pear, cholla, barrel cactus, ocotillo, creosote bushes, and palo verde trees are scattered across the land.

This prickly pear cactus caught my eye on the short hike one morning and I had to paint it.

This is an original pastel painting on 9.5 x 12 inch sanded pastel paper. It ships to you unframed. See the page on framing your pastel painting or consult your framer for information on how to properly frame a pastel painting.
